Skill Development Programming
We are a community of people—cross-cultural and cross-disability—that want to see others thrive. That’s why we run the Skill Development Program.
We want to equip our community with practical, widely applicable, skills
Simply put, the Skill Development means support and training for any unique part of life. We’ve got a community that wants to share their skills with those facing unique barriers due to their disability. Many of us have had to overcome those barriers - and we know that a little help can make all of the difference.
Our program is about taking an individual approach to empowerment.
Every person’s experiences, and challenges, are different. That’s why we adapt the program on an individual basis—to ensure that each of those challenges is met directly. Our focus is independent research, training, and empowerment. At the end of the program we hope that it’ll be easier to navigate the institutions and communities that you’re a part of day to day.
What kind of things do we help with? Here are some examples:
-
Pre-Employment Skills
-
Navigating Social Systems
-
Addressing specific service and accessibility needs
-
Day to day skills (cooking, time management, budgeting)
-
Digital Literacy for 55+

We do this through one-on-one counseling, peer support sessions, and workshops.
